Duties
Responsible for performing day to day GAAP accounting activities for TMNAS and the business units (PHLY Insurance and Tokio Marine America) it supports.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards, and in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Creates and formulates reports on financial performance for internal and external use.
- Completes month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities.
- Supervises junior accounting staff and assists in the development of their professional skills.
- Creates and utilizes automated tools for the updating, analyzing and reporting of financial results.
- Complies with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at the Company.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform special projects and other duties as may be assigned.
- Exercises independent discretion and judgment with respect to tasks assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred or working towards obtaining their license.
- 2-3 years of experience required.
Knowledge of:
- Finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting, ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
- Processes, methods and tools for creating and maintaining accurate and thorough financial reports.
- Confidentiality: practices and policies governing disclosure of information about the organization and its employees.
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and how to apply them. Familiarity with Lease, Fixed Asset, Pre-Paid and Accrual Accounting is preferred.
- Tools, practices and considerations for updating and validating general ledger data. Experience with SAP and Blackline is a plus.
- Microsoft Office and strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

- Good communication skills to provide information to business units.
- Strong organizational skills: planning, organizing, prioritizing tasks; the ability to work with deadlines and communicate with the department if a deadline might be missed.
- Strong customer service skills in order to respond to employee inquiries and management requests (i.e., responsive, collaborative, accurate).
- Emotional maturity to be able to responsibly work with confidential and sensitive Company information.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Superior attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
