Job Summary:

Responsible for leading the design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation of the application development and support process for Policy Administration system. Directs systems analysis and applications development and support activities for one or more business units. Provides technical expertise in software development technologies, platforms, tools and methodologies.

Essential Job Functions:

Performs essential Applications Development and Support functions as applicable to the specific portfolio, including:

  • Responsible for architecting solutions in Microsoft .Net and ReactJS stacks and provides technical expertise to the development and support team as part of various projects, initiatives or operations support
  • Reviews business requirement documents to provide technical analysis and solution estimates
  • Leads the design, configuration and technical implementation of applications and systems
  • Works with the business relationship teams to provide estimations and timelines for enhancements and new projects to meet business requirements
  • Contributes to the technical implementation of Proof of Concepts when required
  • Plans and leads technical upgrades of applications and systems
  • Leads application modernization efforts
  • Contributes towards DevOps, automation solutions, and continuous improvements to the operational delivery
  • Ensures accuracy of the implementation through unit testing and responsible for overall code quality
  • Works collaboratively with the architecture, business analysis and QA teams and subject matter experts of the various upstream and downstream systems in the design and development of solutions
  • Researches, evaluates and provides input to potential solutions, considering project constraints, organizational architecture standards, customer business processes and emerging technologies
  • Participates in on-going operational support and maintenance activities
  • Aligns to the maintenance and enforcement of SDLC (software development lifecycle) processes, departmental standards, style requirements and all other procedures necessary for data and system integrity

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (preferably in Computer Science or related field)
  • 5-10 years of experience in developing enterprise applications using Microsoft stack of technologies
  • 3+ years of experience in architecting or re-engineering complex systems
  • Experience with JavaScript, XML, JSON, XSLT and CSS
  • Experience with ReactJS, TypeScript is a plus
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Azure Cloud development experience is a plus 5+ years of experience working in P&C Insurance is preferable
  • Experience designing and implementing solutions from functional and technical specs
  • Experience providing technical support for resolutions
  • Experience working with source code repositories
  • Git experience is preferred
  • Deep Technical expertise with acumen to be hands on to resolve problem areas is required
  • Knowledge of P&C Insurance terminologies and processes preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Knowledge of activities, tasks, practices and deliverables associated with eliciting and clearly defining and documenting required business functionality and non-functional requirements
  • Knowledge of formal methodologies for planning and executing application development, enhancement, or support
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems, ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Ability to write business requirements, functional and technical specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and adopt modern technologies and tools
  • Knowledge of SDLC and software support and maintenance approaches like Scrum and Waterfall
  • Knowledge of Unit testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of deployment automation tools and DevOps practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service orientation (responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate)
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills: able to work with a variety of people and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner
  • Strong analytical ability with the capability to determine the root cause of problems and issues and provide solutions
  • Strategic thinking: Applies organizational acumen to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple, competing, frequently changing time-sensitive deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to work independently and without supervision

Salary range $99,000 to $145,000. Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
