Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified Senior Software Engineer for Digital Development to join our high performing team that delivers and supports services across the U.S. and Mexico to the North American businesses of the Tokio Marine Group. As a senior developer with React / Node.js skills you will lead and/or participate in the design, development, and support of various digital applications, websites and projects.  For this position, we expect you to possess advanced development skills in key technologies (articulated below). We are looking for candidates to be collaborative, communicative, and confident while providing technical leadership to a team of developers and while working with business and IT groups in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead/contribute to the analysis, design and technical implementation of modern web portals and related components using React.js, TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Implement different web applications according to provided technical specifications and business requirements
  • Develop new UI features and functionalities using React.js.
  • Build front-end libraries and reusable components focused on future reuse
  • Analyze and translate functional specifications into technical specifications
  • Participate in the architectural design of the functional enhancements, collaborating with the Enterprise Architecture team
  • Ensure accuracy of the implementation through unit testing and assist in user acceptance testing
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback and drive continuous improvement within the team
  • Communicate technical recommendations back to business analysts, subject matter experts and end users
  • Lead on-going production support for implemented projects, managing production support tickets and providing resolution
  • Maintain coding best practices and standards
  • Plan and create release packages of various web sites and web application and related components, working with the release management team
  • Establish and build working relations and partnerships with Business Units
  • Perform special projects and other duties as may be assigned

Degree / Licenses and Professional Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS,  Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred
  • React.js / Node.js developer certifications are a plus

Experience

  • 5-7+ years of front-end web development using React.js and Node.js technologies
  • 7 years professional experience in developing C# and ASP.NET based web applications and web sites for cross-browser consumption
  • 7 years professional experience in back-end development using SQL Server 2016 and higher
  • Professional development experience with CSS3, HTML5, JavaScript and modern web development principles
  • Experience with Azure DevOps builds and code merging
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, database design and optimization
  • Experience developing and deploying applications on Azure hosted solutions is a plus
  • Proficiency in code versioning tools such as GIT is a plus
  • Experience with headless modern Content management system is a plus
  • Experience working in the insurance industry P&C sector is a plus

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and Object-Oriented Programming
  • Advanced knowledge of SOA principles, design patterns, implementation methodologies, and related tools
  • Strong knowledge of working with various integration patterns and security practices for external facing web portals
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems, ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for design and development of technical documentation
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Clear communication and comprehension skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills

Salary range $99,000 to $140,000. Ultimate salary offered will be based on factors such as applicant experience and geographic location. Our company offers a competitive benefits package and bonus eligibility on top of base.
